Here is the
formula to calculate your total tax
bill. Total Property Tax Bill = Assessed
Value/ 100 x 1.9203. So a house assessed
at the new township average of $320,300 will
have a total property tax bill of $6,150.72.
Creek
Clearing: The Burlington County Road
Department has started clearing the snags and
obstructions from the Rancocas Creek.
The Burlington County Bridge Commission agreed
to pay for the engineering studies, plans and
application process to obtain the various
permits required to remove some of the obstructions
by the State Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP). The process is
expected to take many months to remove over
100 known obstruction in the South and
Southwest branches of the Rancocas Creek in
Lumberton, Southampton, and Medford.
Recycling
Lot: The Township moved the
municipal recycling lot from its prior
location on Municipal Drive to a site on Chestnut Street up from the Walther
School. Some fencing and landscaping
will be added to the site to help prevent
materials from blowing off site and to make
the site less visible from the road.
Repetitive
Loss and Significant Loss: On July 10th, the Township
Committee passed an ordinance defining
"Repetitive Loss" and
"Significant Loss". This change
to the Township Code will make some flooded
homeowners eligible for up to $30,000 in flood
mitigation assistance from the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Qualified residents will be able to use this
financial assistance to elevate their homes.
A-1
Pallet: On June 20th, the Township
Committee approved an ordinance authorizing
the redevelopment of A-1 Pallet. The
owner of the former A-1 Pallet site will now
seek proposals from developers to redevelop
the site in accordance with the guidelines
specified by the Township Committee. The
Township expressed a desire for medical
offices, professional offices or light retail
for the site.
Liquor
License: The Township completed the
auction of the new liquor license without
receiving any bidders. The Township
Committee plans to consult with the township's
planner to start a formal redevelop study and
plan for Route 38 and use the liquor license as part of
a formal redevelopment plan.
Crossing
Guards: The Township Committee
approved an additional
crossing guard on Bobby's Run Boulevard at the
Freeman Park to help manage the volume of
children walking and biking to the Bobby's Run
and Middle Schools. The existing crossing
guard location will be moved to Windermere
Avenue to make it closer to the school complex
and more convenient for residents in the
Tynemouth Drive area.
Recreation
Programs: The Lumberton Recreation
Department still has a few openings for Fall
Outdoor Soccer and the the third session of
Summer Recreation starting July 23rd. If
you are interested, please contact the
recreation department at 267-3217 x3104.
